Trigger Point Therapy

Deep Tissue

Swedish Massage:

Let’s start with the ‘feel good’ first…

Swedish massage in an age old and proven technique that uses long gliding strokes with light to medium pressure, as well as firm kneading of tight, knotted muscles.

This classic type of therapy is especially great for anyone new to massage and is the perfect technique to provide immediate relaxation with therapeutic benefits.

Swedish massage also happens to be a great preventative measure for relieving stress, reducing muscle tension, aiding in detoxification and improving circulation.

If you want to get in a relaxed state, schedule a Swedish massage today.

Deep Tissue Massage – Addressing Muscle Pain

This is the go-to sports therapy massage technique.

Deep Tissue massage combines trigger point therapy with myofascial release to relieve knots and scar tissue that cause pain and dysfunction. This is especially well suited to areas of chronic pain, and conditions caused by old injuries or repetitive overuse.

Myofacial Release

Diving deeper into deep tissue massage…

Fascia is the tissue that wraps around our muscles, blood vessels, nerves, and bones.  This tissue can become restricted and knotted due to misuse and injury.

Not that you want to get too technical, but these fascia form continuous connections from head to toe, and when ‘knotted’, can really cause you some pain.

Myofacial release is a great example of how the body’s muscles and tissue are connected throughout and when one component get ‘out of whack’ it affects other areas of the body.  It may seem strange, but as a massage therapist, we may effectively relieve tension in the back and neck by manually stretching the fascia in the legs.

Healing Massage

Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter to you all the different techniques that we implement; what really matters is that we get the job done, right?

Essential Body Maintenance is a Doctor recommended therapeutic, muscle and sports injury massage therapist.

Craniosacral Therapy

According to the National Headache Foundation, approximately 28 million Americans suffer from migraine headaches.

Often, migraines are triggered or exacerbated by stress and poor sleep.

In a study published in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine, researchers found that participants who received bodywork like Cranial Sacral Therapy had better quality sleep and fewer migraines than participants who didn’t.

There aren’t many of us who don’t suffer from headaches induced by stress and lack of sleep, but that doesn’t mean that we have to.

We often work Craniosacral massage therapy into or along with other massage techniques to not only remedy existing headache pain, but to prevent future headaches or migraines from happening for up to 3 weeks.
